Pyroradio.com: So T2 you’re born and bred in Leeds how’s London for you?
T2: It’s alright not bad, there are some big differences though, it’s expensive, parking, headache, congestion charge, but everything’s good though.
Pyroradio.com: Any plans to move down here permanently?
T2: See with this music thing I don’t know where it’s gonna take me in life, I don’t know where it’s gonna take me, I might end up living in Miami (laughs). I don’t know I like it down here but its home sweet home to be honest
Pyroradio.com: You started producing at the age of 13, when did you know music is gonna be the one for you?
T2: Ever since I started producing, I actually wanted to become a full blown musician, before I could even produce. I remember when my Mum would ask me what I wanted to do I was scared to tell her that I wanted to be a producer so I used to come out with some fake job I wanted to do. But music is what I wanted to do and it’s a great thing I’m doing it.
Pyroradio.com: Who are your favorite producers right now in the Bassline scene and other urban music?
T2: I don’t have a lot of favorite producers cos at the moment I’m in a state of mind of concentrating on myself, there’s a few talented guys though TS7, TRC and the Daddy of producing Timbaland that’s about it really I don’t really pay much attention to what’s going on.
Pyroradio.com: Heartbroken debuted at number 2 in the charts and was the summer banger of 2007 has the success of that sunk in for you, how have you dealt with that?
T2: It’s been great, it’s a beautiful feeling, it’s one of them situations where you appreciate waking up every morning that you’ve got some where with it, it’s been beautiful. A lot of fans went out and bought the record regardless that it had been leaked and was easily available on the internet. It sold a lot of records and brought Bassline through and now we’re out here, now you’ve got the Addictive tune so a lot was riding on that record so thank you man.
Pyroradio.com: Tell us about your upcoming single?
T2: It’s classified and exclusive! It’s called ‘Butterflies’ featuring my home girl Shayna, the video will be out very very soon, we’re just putting it together this week, it’s on my myspace, myspace.com/t2musicbassline you can check a little clip of it on there, it’s pretty good, I wrote the song so lady’s I understand what you feel out here (laughs). I hope you like it, I’ve been getting a good response from it.
Pyroradio.com: Any plans for an album and when can we expect that from you?
T2: Soon come you know, it’s not even a plan thing, I’m in the studio day in day out, the albums landing this summer, there’s no definite date cos it’s not finished but it’s nearly there. Watch out for the big collaborations coming, we got some big collaborations on there
Pyroradio.com: What do you think on the rise in popularity of Bassline and other urban underground music?
T2: It’s a beautiful thing, urban music in this country has come back to life now and I’m glad to be apart of it cos it went dead for a few years no disrespect to what was going on then but now a lot of tunes are getting signed a lot of bread is coming on the table for people so it’s beautiful man. At the end of the day, other people’s success provides food for other people as well and creates jobs, its good man, it’s popping off. Uk music takeover you get me (laughs)
Pyroradio.com: Louise and Aisha who form Addictive, how did you two come together?
Addictive: Through a garden fence (laughs). That’s the truth me and Aisha met about ten years ago, she lived next door to my Aunt but we didn’t hang about with each other much you know cos she was a year older than me. You know when you were younger you would only really hang around people your age. But we both lived in the same endz Plaistow, singing in the same shows and following the same paths. Now we’ve been singing together for about three years.
Pyroradio.com: So tell us about your current single ‘Gonna be Mine’?
Addictive: It’s our first single, it’s featuring T2, I think everyone thinks it’s T2’s single but it’s actually our single featuring T2. It’s a privilege for T2 to produce a track for us, we’re loving it it’s out on the 17th of March.
Pyroradio.com: How did that collaboration come about?
Addictive: We first heard T2 on Myspace, we knew about Bassline anyway from about a year and a half ago, we went raving up in Leeds (Laughs) we went ‘Gatecrasher’ and ‘Niche’ and we liked the scene in general, we weren’t just like we wanna sing Bassline cos it’s big, we liked it and hooked up with T2 who has the same management with us so it made it even easier and appropriate and it’s just gone from there, we wrote ‘Gonna Be Mine’ last summer, so it’s been quiet a journey so far with that song, we’ve got other stuff as well, we’ve almost done a whole album it’s Bassline with a lot of T2’s production so he’s been very very busy with his production and ours!
Pyroradio.com: If you guys could work with anyone who would it be?
Addictive: Timbaland I love Timbaland, Pharrell, Will I Am, I think that song writer as well Linda Perry, she’s worked with Alicia Keys, Christina Agluera, Pink every song I’ve heard has been great. Mark Ronson he’s really good and any Uk producers.
T2: Artist wise I’ve worked with one of the artists already and have seen what their vocal abilities over Bassline is, watch out for that it’s big! All I’m gonna say is that we took Bassline and put an artist from the other side on too Bassline. I don’t know you know I’m pretty easy, I could work with anyone really as long as they’ve got a good voice. Mariah would be interesting and Rihanna as well.
Pyroradio.com: Lastly where do you see yourself in five years time?
Addictive: Hopefully five albums, an album a year (Laughs) nice and greedy. Perfume line, clothing line, acting I’m serious at the end of the day you’ve got to have your goals, our goals are big and our dreams are big so we’re reaching for those. I just wanna know I’m doing what I love and getting paid for it, I don’t wanna call it work, work is fruit and vedge stall (Laughs) and that I’m happy!
T2: I got so so much plans, I would have produced a lot of successful artists, went and claimed the Brit they didn’t give me this year next year, the Mercury Award this year. I want a country house up north, quad bikes and all that probably a kid, a wife, simple things really. So far I’ve been successful with my music and business enterprise with Powerhouse records and 2NV I wanna help make that a very powerful empire which hasn’t been done before so we want to take that seriously, set standards, I’ve been a trend setter from day dot, so I’m looking to have my business enterprise successful in five years
