Little X Interview

Our people over at http://undergroundrepublik.com/ caught up with Little X, one of the biggest music video producers on the scene whilst he was in toronto.

How was your day bro?

X: Pretty good.

Pretty good?  Busy busy.

X: Yeah.

Okay so I believe that you’re from a small town, so how does a small town guy get to where you are now and what were some of the obstacles you faced?

X: Uh- I wouldn’t say it’s a small town – Brampton is really just a suburb of Toronto.

Oh okay

X: I moved to Toronto when I was really young so ya just kinda here.

What were some of the obstacles that you faced trying to get where you are now?

X: Coming from Toronto is really just, you know you’re separate from the States and it’s a little harder to get into when I was growing up, being black in this country as it’s known as the Great White North

Seen, obviously as you’re growing up and you’re looking at all these videos and songs coming out, which song from the past would you have loved to have done the video for?

X: I don’t know, maybe Bust A Move or something (laughs) Bust A Move, I woulda done Bust A Move

And why would you have done that video?

X: I don’t know, it just came to my head and sounds like a good one to say.

Cool I found out recently that you did Nelly Furtado’s video, its more of a Spanish vibe and you do more for the hip-hop genre what’s the move there?  Why are you doing that kind of video?

X: Well Nelly and I have a good relationship, you know we’ve worked before, same town, manager and I are good friends and when the Spanish album came around we just connected and did it again.  But I wouldn’t say I’m just a hip hop guy I’ve lived in the Black music world, that’s for sure.  But you know it fit, when we did Promiscuous together so it all just flowed from there.

Works out well.  Have you got any spiritual or religious beliefs?

X: Yeah, I’m everything.

You’re everything I like your answer and looking at everything and believing everything, how does that on a part of your craft?

X: On my craft?  We’ll you’re just open, that’s the point of being everything, so you’re just open to things and there’s a deeper level that I can’t actually talk about cause like I said I’m everything, people think you’re crazy.  But the spiritual world is real, that’s your life – that’s the foundation – your belief system that you have is you when you walk outside – you know what I’m saying?

True. – Michael Jackson has great videos, which Michael Jackson video would you have done if you could have?

X: Michael Jackson Smooth Criminal but I would have done it exactly the same so (laughs).  I don’t know, a Michael Jackson video you cant change, Like there perfect.

Yeah they are!

X: Like you know. What I would have liked to have done was Butterfly since he never made a video for that, I would have loved to have done it for Butterfly off the invincible album.

Looking at your on list of videos which has been your favorite?

X: My favorite was G Dep, Black Rob P.Diddy Lets Get It

At the moment you’ve been labeled as the next Hype Williams his prodigy, how do you feel about that tag?

X: You know I can’t really be the next Hype, Hype is here, you know what I’m sayin?  I’m me, I’m the first me.  You know its respect, I came up under him like he – so I’m definitely a student, I’m definitely a student of his style.

So what movies have you been working on lately?

X: There is a couple projects I’m developing, I can’t really talk about.  But doing work on a bunch of stuff.

What does the future hold for you?

X: The future? I don’t know, I can’t talk about tomorrow it’s not here yet.  But I got my plans, you know, I’m building – I’m building my castle just like everybody else.  I wanna mention Sean Paul will be the next video comin out n just – ya Sean Paul video’s and David Guetta featuring Estelle, so that’s the latest and greatest.

Fantastic, when is that looking to come out?

X: David Guetta and Estelle is coming out in a few days, the premiere will be very soon.

Okay wicked, and what about Sean Paul?

X: Sean Paul!  That’s going to be a little longer, we’re just doing some work.  But you know, that’s pretty essential, all this stuff we just shot and then we’re in the editing process now, so that’s what’s happening.

Any rock oriented videos, at all?

X: None of that yet, but you know?  I’ve done Korn back in the day, but I haven’t done a whole lot of rock.

Do you have any fashion beliefs or do you have a fashion following or label that you like?

X: I do some designs for IceGear fitness collection, where I put some art work on their clothing. But fashion doesn’t really interest me (laughs) I wear what I wear, I’m not that kind of guy, I don’t pretend to be a fashion nerd

I really look forward to seeing some of your stuff comin out real soon.

X: Great.

Okay cool man, Well it’s been great talking to you X.  And I wish you all the success in the future and I’m sure you will be very successful.

X: Thank you, you too.

And I’ll speak to you soon.

X: Peace
