Pyroradio.com: How’s life keeping?
VV Brown: Good. Things are growing slowly but surely it’s exciting though.
Pyroradio.com: I see you’ve got your solo tour coming up and your giving someone an opportunity to go on tour with you, how did the idea for that come about?
VV Brown: We didn’t just wanna do the normal thing, we wanted to give up and coming bands an opportunity so they can showcase there music, it will be great for them because they get a single deal with Island as well.
Pyroradio.com: I know your involved with the Warchild campaign as well, you seem to get involved with a lot of these campaigns, I know you were involved with Africa Express as well.
VV Brown: Yeah I love it you know. With what I do you get so consumed with talking about yourself it’s real nice to get involved with things for other people (laughs). With the Warchild campaign we were just asked to do it and I immediately said yeah, it was really cool to work with the likes of N Dubz, Bashy and Pixie Lott. I’ve known Bashy for ages and I’ve always known he’s been dope, I’ve never worked with N Dubz though, they are so talented, I knew they were talented but not on the level I see them on know, they’re big because they are good.

Pyroradio.com: With your new video ‘Game Over’ you look like you had a lot of fun.
VV Brown: I looked like a drag queen (laughs), I do love it though, it was an opportunity to play with fashion which is what I love, I think this video brings out the song as well.
Pyroradio.com: You seem so busy, you’ve got your music, fashion, touring how do you unwind?
VV Brown: Sex! Also driving my Moped and I love going to the theatre.
Pyroradio.com: Have you started on your next album yet?
VV Brown: Not yet it’s early day’s we won’t start on it until next year we’re about to go America the next few months. We’ve still got a lot of work to do over here, I still don’t think we’ve had that nugget that takes me everywhere, I still haven’t had that HIT yet, so we’re working really hard to get to that level, I’ve got a new song called ‘Caroline’ that we are gonna be releasing in the US and hopefully bring back to the UK. That will hopefully be our nugget of gold.
Pyroradio.com: How frustrating for you was the Radio One play list situation with Shark On The Water, everyone seemed to be giving it great reviews.
VV Brown: To keep it real it’s very frustrating, especially that with every other avenue video, press, gigs, the reviews have all been great but you know what, you just have to keep going, you have to keep being and doing you. They’ve obviously got their reasons. There have been loads of artists in the past who have experienced what we’ve experienced, N Dubz for instance, Amy Whinehouse’s first record, MIA she’s been doing songs for years before they playlisted one of her songs. You just have to be patient and get on with it.

Pyroradio.com: What’s been your highlight of the year so far?
VV Brown: Still Africa Express it was so amazing, Glastonbury was sick as well though. The album charting in the Top 40 was a big deal as well, I didn’t think it would chart. Our midweek was 16 then because Michael Jackson died sadly it affected everyone’s releases and we went to number 20, to me that’s a big deal though I can tell my kids, and grandkids I’ve had a charted album.
