Dan Greepeace hosting his very own show live on Pyro Radio every Monday 7-9 pm GMT
Dan Greenpeaces Biography:
Dan Greenpeace is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential hip-hop DJs on the scene today.
He’s been an aficionado of the music since way back in ’82 when Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel records inspired him to try out his scratching techniques on his ma and pa’s vinyl. From then on, every penny earned from his Saturday job at Tesco went on his personal wax collection.
Dan has watched hip-hop grow for 25 years; he was in the front row nodding his head in the days when legends like Public Enemy, Run DMC, Beastie Boys and Eric B and Rakim played small intimate venues and was on the dancefloor when 45 King dropped ‘900 Number’ and when the nation first heard ‘It Takes Two’ by Rob Base & EZ Rock.
Motivated and inspired by New York radio DJs Marley Marl and Red Alert, along with a need to share his vast record collection, he hijacked the student radio station in Leeds and since then he’s has had his fingers in all the hip-hop pies.
Dan has had club residencies for over 10 years and has supported many groups on stage ranging from D12 to Mobb Deep and De La Soul. He has contributed towards Hip-Hop Connection since its inception and even set up his own magazine, Fat Lace. In an A&R capacity he has signed the UK’s Blak Twang to Wall Of Sound and now owns his own label All City Music responsible for artists such as Sway, Shameless and Baby J in the UK as well as US artists ranging from the Alchemist to 50 Cent and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
For the last six years, Dan has presented the All City Show on the UK’s leading Indie station XFM. With no other ‘in-house’ competition he has seen every major Rap personality come through his studio. Whether it be Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg or the most aspiring UK artist, Dan has interviewed them all. This wealth of experience and knowledge Dan is only too keen to share with Pyro Radio. As he puts it “I want to be where I’m needed, not where I’m under-appreciated”.
Dan Greenpeace has had a keen ear on hip-hop since the 80’s and in the 00’s it is just as sharp.
